Division Engineer, Water Division 5
The Division 5 Engineer is responsible for the administration and distribution of waters of the state within Water Division 5 (Colorado River Basin (Glenwood Springs)). Job duties include directing work efforts; allocating budget for operating and personal services; supervising and training subordinates; taking enforcement action as necessary to ensure compliance with decrees, statutes, permits, rules and regulations, and interstate compacts; reviewing applications to the water court, consulting with the water referee as required by statute, and leading negotiations with applicants to obtain decrees consistent with statutes and administrative policies; compiling and making available official records of water use and official lists of water rights; overseeing dam safety, hydrographic measurements and publications to identify and quantify water supplies, and well use; and resolving disputes concerning water rights and use.
This position requires current, valid licensure as a Professional Engineer from the Colorado State Board of Licensure for Architects, Professional Engineers and Professional Land Surveyors or current valid licensure as a Professional Engineer in the United States, with the ability to obtain licensure in Colorado within six (6) months of hire, and four (4) years of professional experience in an occupational field related to the work assigned to the position, two (2) of which must have been at the level of a senior authority, manager, or equivalent. Appropriate education in addition to that required for the professional engineer license may be substituted for the required general professional experience on a year-for-year basis, but not for the supervisory experience.
