Legal Representation Concerning Water Rights

Legal Representation Concerning Water Rights
Parker Water is soliciting proposals from qualified law firms or individual licensed attorneys to practice law in the State of Colorado who have specialized knowledge and experience in Colorado water law to perform legal services, including but not limited to, the preparation and filing of water rights applications and statements of opposition to water rights applications in Water Division 1 on behalf of the District and representation in negotiations pertaining to the District’s current and future water resources projects as well as the administration of the District’s existing water rights.
Both the firm and lead attorney or attorneys selected must have substantial experience in the following:
- Representing and advising governmental entities and municipal utilities with respect to water law.
- Prosecuting water rights applications and statements of opposition.
- Drafting and negotiation of agreements, permits, and licenses required by local, state, and federal agencies related to water supply and distribution projects.
- Trial experience.
Given the District’s extensive water rights portfolio and the number of water resources related projects that are on-going or expected to begin in the near future, it is anticipated that PWSD will require related legal services every year going forward.
