At Martin and Wood Water Consultants (M&W), water is more than our work—it’s our passion. We’re seeking a Water Resources Engineer with 7+ years of experience who is ready to lead, apply technical expertise, and make a meaningful real-world impact.

In this role, you’ll work on and lead significant water resources projects across Colorado, mentor emerging professionals, and help solve some of the West’s most urgent water challenges. If you enjoy tackling complex problems and want your work to matter, you’ll feel at home here.

What You’ll Do

• Own projects from start to finish — lead hydrologic and engineering investigations from concept through completion.
• Lead and strengthen the team — mentor junior staff and help develop a strong technical team.
• Manage hydrologic and water rights evaluations with a focus on quality, accuracy, and efficiency.
• Shape, contribute, and support water rights strategy.
• Prepare and review expert reports and technical analyses, including historical use and availability    analyses.
• Conduct water accounting and provide practical operational guidance.
• Translate complex data into clear, defensible technical reports for Colorado Water Court proceedings.
• Develop new projects and client opportunities.
• Build lasting client relationships with both new and existing clients.

  What You Bring

• 7+ years of experience in water resources engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering; a Master’s degree is preferred but not required.
• Colorado Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain one.
• Familiarity with Colorado water rights and the regulatory landscape.
• Proven leadership experience.
• Clear, confident written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong time management skills and the ability to balance multiple projects and priorities.
• Experience managing tasks, projects and staff.
• Ability to analyze and interpret information in both statistical and narrative form.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, ArcMap, IDS AWAS, IDSCU, StateCU, and Adobe Acrobat.

  Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $100,000–$162,000+
• Eligible for an annual merit bonus.
• Flexible hybrid work environment, with at least two days per week in the Golden, Colorado office. Remote work considered.
